Taking off the side panels on a Kinetic TFR
Published November 29th, 2006 in TFR Project, TFR Techical Info. Tags: No Tags. The two side panels on a TFR have to be removed to gain access to just about everything. There is nowhere in the owner’s manual that says how to do it.
This little thing drove me nuts for about 10 minutes until I figured it out. I thought I would share it because it’s pretty much the starting point for any maintenance on the TFR.
There are several large plastic “screw heads” (two on one side and three on the other) that fasten the side panels on to the TFR. To remove the panels you will need to unfasten them. To unfasten the hooks:
1. Screw head should be in a horizontal “hooked” position. With a flat head screwdriver, insert the driver into the slot.
2. Push inward about a half inch (fastener is spring loaded) and rotate the screw head in either direction 90 degrees.
3. Pull the screwdriver out and the fastner head should pop out about a quarter inch (depending on which one). The fastner should be unhooked.
